Hey, All:

As you may have noticed, I've decided to go mostly Friends Only here. All of my fanfiction will still be public. I don't know how often I will be posting new stuff, but I'm not planning to take anything down.

I'm slowly starting to post my fanfiction over at Archive of Our Own. I've started with Animorphs. I'm thinking I'll just work my way through alphabetically, a little at a time.

I'm here.

Really want to work on a Sherlock fic that's buzzing around my brain, but I haven't see the latest episodes, so I don't want to write something wildly wrong.

End of the Year Fannish Meme

I've seen this everywhere on my flist, so I'm giving it a go. This has been a very weird year for me (oh, understatement), and I haven't been active at all in fandom. Frankly, I miss it hardcore, and I hope to participate more in 2012. But I did spend a lot of time in bed, which equals a lot (way, way too much) time watching TV and reading fanfic. So.

2011-2012 Fannish MemeCollapse )

So I'm going to participate in NaNoWriMo this year. I have a pretty good idea of what I want to do. It's very personal in a lot of ways. My real concern is that I don't know if I can make it long enough. I'm very much a short story kind of girl. But we'll see. I'm excited about it!

Animorphs kink meme:

So I know by it's nature it's supposed to be anonymous, but I thought I'd post a note to let you all know I wrote something for the first time in like, a year...and it's kinky as all get out, and borderline non-con, and het (ish), so what the fuck? Guess that's the fun of a kink meme...trying out shit you'd never thought you'd do in a million years. So:

Melancholy: Jake/Marco, Jake in Rachel morph. Takes place during the last book. Enjoy?

[FIC] "Live Mic" (Sports Night, Dan/Casy)

Title: Live Mic
Pairing: Dan/Casey
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: All

Summary: Dana has a conversation with Dan and Casey after an on-air mishap from a competing show.

Notes: I found this in a notebook. I wrote most of this, literally, years ago. So, that's a warning about quality. I'm posting it for shits and giggles.

The day after the fox guy loses his shit on the air, Dana calls them into the conference room and flits away before they can ask her what she wants.Collapse )

Due South fanfic

Wow, this is first thing I've written in months. It's not stupendous, but I had fun with it. It's for ds_flashfiction's "Delayed Gratification" challenge.

Title: Just What the Doctor Ordered
Pairing: Fraser/RayK
Rating: PG13
Word Count: 2000ish
Summary: Ray is chaffing under the doctor’s instructions against “strenuous activity.”

Just What the Doctor Ordered

"The Price of Winning" (Fraser/RayK, R)

So I wrote a little Due South ficlet for ds_flashfiction. I'm not entirely happy with it (hate the ending, for one), but it's up if you'd like to read it.

Title: The Price of Winning
Pairing: Fraser/RayK
Rating: R
Word Count: 1450ish
Summary: Ray and Fraser make a bet.
Notes: Warning for rimming, if that’s not your thing. Also, Due South isn't mine (duh) and I'm not making money of this (more duh).

The Price of Winning
Whew, I finally finished this thing! I started writing it about...wow, like two years ago, and then it just sat and sat and sat on my computer until I found it a couple days back and decided to fix it up and finish it. If the writing is a bit uneven in places, that's why. Oh, and sap out the ying-yang. Diabetics be warned.

Title: A Big, Gay, Andalite Love Story
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Marco/Ax, Gafinilan/Mertil
Spoilers/Timeline: Through the end of the series, but major spoilers for #40. In fact, this will make little to no sense if you haven’t read that book. Takes place right after the end of the final battle.
Summary: Marco goes to an unlikely source for advice.

Disclaimer: This is K.A. Applegate’s sandbox, in the Scholastic playground. I’m just hanging around borrowing her toys.

There was a knock at the door...Collapse )

I'm writing a story right now that refuses to be told in a linear way. Currently, there's a lot of explanatory dialogue, which I hate, and which feels boring (and goodness knows if I'm bored, any reader is going to be comatose). I have a couple ideas for flashback scenes, but...flashbacks. Uck.

Poll #1204171 Flashbacks:

Flashbacks in stories:

Hate them with the fiery passion of a thousand burning suns.
Generally dislike them.
Not my favorite, but I put up with them.
I've read a few I liked. Depends on how it's handled.
I like them, most of the time.

What makes a good flashback scene? What makes a bad one? Is it even possible to do a decent literary flashback? Do you have examples?

(Personally, I hate flashbacks, which is why I'm struggling so hard with this.)
